rule of thumb regarding harassment(Replied)

Hey mods,
quick question, is there somewhat of an in game etiquette?

I mean at what point would it be considered harassment, how far can a player go with closing your business and muting you? i know those are all in game features, but so is the chat and there are ground rules for that too.

Lets say there was a conflict and one side doesn't want to participate in the conflict anymore and does no aggressive actions like store attacks and so on. How much abuse does one have to take before it would be harassment? Or is it that one can do whatever they want with their office powers?

Thank you for you quick reply. I understand that people can use all their abilities in game to play it any way they see fit. But just as the chat has limits i was wondering if there is an overall .... sort of etiquette. Since my business is being closed for 4 hours every day and i am muted up to 3 hours a day, which will get worse soon when the person gets a higher position.
anyway i just wanted to clarify harassment. Because i am considering, removing all my stores, firing all my employees except my loyal ones. that way i make Money from my factory and i can smash his stores, use price attacks and poach all day and he cant do anything to me.
just so i understand this right, there is no rule of in game harassment and i will not be told off from an admin later, by using the game mechanics to ruin someones fun, after they ruined mine.

One way to avoid an abuse of power would be to put time limits on powers. Just like an employee can not be poached more than ones per hour, maybe a business can not be closed more than ones per 3 days or per week. Mutes every mutes has a equal down time as it is used. Once a 30 minute mute is used on playerX it can be used on him for the 30 minutes after it wore off.

Closing down business and muting is fair game between players, and unfortunately BTO cannot do anything to bring down power in city hall. The only thing you can do is perhaps mail the chairman and kindly ask him to stop.

The politics system here was ill done from the start in rl you can be blocked from speaking at political events but there is always some kind of repercussion for it.

Loss of funding from that group, decreased popularity with the voters and a high chance of being impeached for abuse of power or even being noted as being corrupt but here there is none its just one sided

I've never liked the politics part of this game, it causes players to become power hungry, especially when Chairman....  But I guess that's just a realistic part of the game...

it happens in real dude  . .  i mean you got money then you got power coz thats happening on my country politicians will be a Gambling Lord , Drug Lord or maybe Rapist and they get away with their crime so same in BTO its just here stores will just closed down and not get any of your money not like the real world they close your stores while taking away all your money in taxes . . . . . aight too much of me bye bye

You do have a chance to start a campaign within that person's guild to revolt or mutiny.  Other than that, good luck

There really ought to be some set rules concerning how long certain things go on, like Economic Blockades, trashing stores, media attacks, etc.  It should not be allowed to go on forever especially if the one being attacked has asked for a truce.

There are limits, you cant be closed down more than once a day, and Guild allowance can only effect you every second day.

If there's a Chairman you dislike, make his life the most irritating you can.
Attack his oil wells, impeach his members in committee. And don't stop just because he has poached all your employees. Because at that point there's nothing stopping you from making his life hell.

i had an issue on a server where i left my guild because the members all became inactive including the president, i received several invites to guilds and i simply chose the first invitation , i waited the 24 hours required and joined the guild, immediately upon joining the guild my company was shut down daily without warning and i was muted constantly , i made no attacks on anyone, i simply chose one guild over another, thats abusive in my eyes. and i almost never talk in chat , but was receiving mute messages. i just quit the server, now it looks like the least active server the last i looked. that kind of abuse kills the server.

In a political battle wars can emerge, but what people don't realise is all those people getting attacked is like smoking your server to death.

The main Guild on my server is comprised of a bunch of a$$holes that bully and call people names all day long on chat.  Today profanities were being spewed because someone listed oil for sale in the trade center @ $1300/ea while they were listing it for higher and were demanding that they take their order down and calling people names.  When I told them to grow up, my stores were all targeted and suddenly I am foe of all their guild members.  It's pretty stupid and it's enough to make me not even want to play the game.  I am all for competitive spirit, but this guild is a bunch of out of control idiots that have no regard for anyone else that plays and frankly the admins should do something.  If this is representative of how the games top players act, then i want nothing to do with it and I will be sure to spread the word.

sorry to hear about your troubles. The same thing could be said about server 3 the server i play on. The guild made infamous by a couple of essays posted here on the forums the other day 'ZERO' is basically the largest guild and hold a large portion of the political spaces and they have been assaulting players because they know they can get away with it. It is really rediculous because all everyone else wants to do is play the game in peace, but these guys kind of ruin it for everyone. really LAME.
