Login Page, among other things

Hi All,

I know this might be the wrong place to post. But I can't seem to post in the suggestions forum. So Imma voice my thoughts here.

I've been playing for a couple of days. But I noticed a number of imbalanced designs that seriously jeopardize the longevity of this great game. I have suggestions for some of them, which I want to share and let the game makers take notice. But more importantly, I wanna see if the general population of players feels the same way.

1. Lemme start with the login page. The "Hot Server" list is problematic. It seems to me that the list consists of the newest server, and some existing but overcrowded servers (especially S8). Why try and direct new players to mature servers that don't need more people when there are 30 other servers that could use a bit publicity and some new players? I don't mind if the newest server is on the front page. But dovo should seriously consider making this "Hot" list more random, and feature some less crowded servers, where a new player can probably have more fun.

2. As for this thing where a new server is introduced every week or so, it makes sense that with the new contests and stuff, new servers make money. The top players that I've talked to on my server (S34) all started right when the server started. They all played before. They invested in the new server to win the new contests so they can be top bitches for once. This seems to be a general trend with the entire game play. Players who put in money at the beginning, who won more stuff in earlier contests, are more likely to win later contests. From a monetization perspective, this is just the nature of things. Dovo wants players to buy gold and all contests are just ways to incentivize players to spend more money. But these contests should be more friendly to newer players. For example, tiered contests, where large corp and below are ranked in one brackets for rewards, limited to multinational are ranked in one bracket, and so on. And this makes sense particularly for arena. Instead of having one big pool of teams, where the top teams keep winning and keep making their teams better, at no additional gold cost, there should be a pool for newer players, based maybe on team stat total, size of company, or length of play; a BTO version of weight division, if you will.

3. I haven't spend a single dollar buying gold yet. I do plan to though, prolly right after I finish this post. I've noticed that SUP is like the most valuable thing in the game, more or less. And there is cheap and accessible SUP via daily recharge and login. See, for me, this is how I look at spending money for games. I can go buy a full single player game for $60+. That would last me a month to two months depending on the game. If that game has an online mode, even better. I could also play something like FFXIV or WoW, which cost just over $10 a month. But all those games require a much heavier time investment. With BTO, there is just as much fun and feeling of accomplishment, but it's much less time consuming, which is definitely a plus for the game. I would feel comfortable spending $10-15 per week on it. But right now there isn't enough incentive for me to do that. I would love to see more ways to get SUP. Maybe up two SUP for up to $2 recharges daily. And add more SUP purchases in the login reward page, something like, first for 1 gold, second for 5. It's possible to cap it so that players with lots of gold don't get too much advantage, but players who weren't recharging much before would do it more regularly. And also, the daily discounts are not very accessible right now. There should be a way to get discount coupons on small daily recharges, or weekly recharges, and not just big recharges in the hundreds of dollars.

Now I am done ranting. Time to get back to the game. Thanks for reading.

Why try and direct new players to mature servers that don't need more people ..

Every server needs more people. Because they come out with a new server every other week, there is usually a finite amount of people that join each server. New people will join the new servers for the most part and people stop joining those older servers. Then after weeks/months when people stop playing on those servers, there isn't a steady flow of new players coming in to replace them, so the number of active players dies down quickly.
